She spent last weekend in Florida doing hands-on training required for the program. Alone, or in combination with medical manipulation, the skill set of a Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine practitioner broadens the tools we have to help relieve pain, manage disease, and restore function to our large animal patients.

We were honored to celebrate with Pate Pollard and his family today at the @ncstatevetmed White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2024. This ceremony is a special time for veterinary students to receive a white coat from a mentor of their choosing as they transition from their pre-clinical studies into their final clinical year. Pate has gained experience with our practice since he was a junior in high school. It has been a complete joy to watch him grow, challenge himself, and excel over the past 9 years. Our team had a wonderful morning training session with Dr. Hoyt Cheramie of @boehringerus_equine this week . This session was focused on improving efficiency and maximizing the quality of our gastroscopic exams. Our technicians, assistants, and veterinarians all took away helpful information to add to our toolbox. Quality care requires a lifelong commitment to learning and challenging ourselves. Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome is rampant in our horses and demands quality diagnostics to make an appropriate treatment plan. Some 2/3 of performance horses are affected. Our team is equipped to help your horse feel and perform at its best. Our endoscope is portable and allows us to examine your horse at home or at our office. There’s a new (to some) face around here! Shelby Unks has joined us part time as a veterinary assistant. You’ll see her assisting our providers twice a week. Shelby is native to Western NC and has returned from completing her degree in Equine Studies at Colorado State University. She is pictured here in Belize during her most recent mission trip in February 2022. You’ll enjoy getting to know her and hearing all about her horses and dogs. Welcome, Shelby!
